Lydia Katrova, DDM, MPH, PhD is a professor of social medicine and public health at the Medical university of Sofia, Faculty of dental medicine, Dept. of Public dental health. She graduated in dentistry in 1981, specialised in advanced general dentistry in 1988, got a master degree in social medicine in 1990 from the M-U of Sofia and a PhD degree in sociology from the University of Sofia in 1997. She specialised in France -Ethics and deontology, Germany -Health insurance, United States - Health policy in UCLA, Ethics in international medical research in Harvard School of public health. Her research works include 175 monographs, textbooks and research papers in Bulgarian, English, and French, 100 contributions at national and international congresses, conferences, and workshops in the fields of dental education, sociology of the professions, medical ethics, public health management, social medicine and prevention, dental ergonomics. She is teaching the integral courses in Social medicine, Medical ethics, Dental public health, Dental practice management to 2nd and 3rd-year dental students in Bulgarian and English, to graduate students and dental practitioners. She is an accredited lecturer of the Bulgarian Dental Association since 2010, she lectures thematic courses in Dental practice management, Ethics and deontology; Dental ergonomics, Burnout prevention. Prof. Lydia Katrova is a doctoral theses director, including international PhD students, expert of The Joint action on health workforce planning and forecasting of the E U network, invited a speaker and expert observer at the Council of Chief dental officers since 1996. She directs students research groups in Dental ergonomics, Sociological investigations, and Research methods. She is Editorial Boards Member of a number of international dental journals, project and dental curricula evaluator. Her biography is included in the Great Bulgarian Doctors Book for 2010. In 2011 she received the Association for Dental Education in Europe award for excellence in dental education for mature educators. In 2012 the Medical University of Sofia recognised her with Signum Laudis for outstanding achievements in research and teaching for 2012. In May 2013 Prof. Katrova with the students research group of ergonomics hosted in Sofia the Annual congress of the European Society of Dental Ergonomics. Sofia, March 2017
